Meetings

Okay I hate meetings. There I said it. I confessed it. I like programming team meetings especially when they start going and get creative. I enjoy working as a team with those people. Anyway, so I wasn't excited about a meeting I had Tuesday night. Until I got there. I'm coordinating a project for our T-5 service (which just means the Sunday that's 5 sundays away) or October 2nd. It involves 4 painters and 4 very large canvases and 3 services. I am not gifted in the visually artistic sense and I know nothing about painting. So, I've been trying to wrap my head around this project. I went to the meeting, met all the artists and was so enthralled by how excited they were about this project. I explained the worship series we're going to start and how the week that they paint throughout Franks message is the final week of the series and the culmination of the series. I explained that mcc hasn't gone here before with artists and that if we're going to do it, we want to do it big. So they each have a 3 foot by 5 foot canvas and at the end, the canvases will come together to form a huge 6 foot by 10 foot canvas with two of them lifting up and the other two being pushed underneath them. They started brainstorming and talking about that service and how they wanted to show diversity in how they painted and they really ran with that idea and the unity of how they are painting four parts of one picture and the picture coming together really connects with what I think we want to say on that sunday about worship. I was just in awe of how well things came together. i was like we need this, and one of them would say, oh I have some and I would say we need four huge easels and one of them said I was at school today and me and the other art teacher had 5 huge easels and we don't know what to do with them cause they're so big. It's just really coming together and I think it will create a very special hour that sunday. It was really exciting to be a part of it. And my excitement rubbed off on them and their excitement rubbed off on me. They are just so passionate and excited and it's like they were waiting to be asked to do it b/c they are just so excited about getting to use their gifts for the church. wow.

Oh a p.s to my sister: this is why I was hoping you were flying out to see this sunday. Love you
