Rain Rain Go Away
It hasn't stopped raining.
In a week.
Anyone who remembers my aversion to rain and when jeans are wet around my calves and ankles can understand my moods.
Several people from the vocal team and the band volunteered to lead a couple songs in the morning and afternoon for a seminar being hosted at MCC today. It was an interesting day.
The band members in the afternoon were a young (like 15 yr old) acoustic player and a really dedicated band member who plays bass. It was really impressive to watch TBP mentor this young man. While we were practicing, he helped him with a couple strumming things, reminded him where he needed to play lightly and where he should build. Also, while we were practicing, the seminar attendees were eating lunch in that same room so we had to take the acoustic and just gather around and practice. It made me smile because the bass player really wanted the young acoustic to have a feel for what he would be doing on those songs, so he hummed his bass parts. During the service, it was great to watch him lead through example and guide the young man into following the wandering vocalists. And afterwards, I saw him encourage him. Really, the two of them did a great job.
Here's where I can make a lame analogy to the rain and how mentoring can happen from the top down, but also people lead up like wator vapor evaporating into the atmosphere, but I'll refrain from doing that today.
